Hotel Information

Courtyard by Marriott – 30 Whalley Ave., (203) 777-6221, 160 Rooms, www.courtyard.com.
This hotel is the one that is physically the closest to the festivals main venue, Toads Place which is about a block away. It’s slightly further away from the Sunday evening venue. A very nice place to stay!

The Marriott will be this years official hotel.
When you call the Marriott at (203) 777-6221 to make a reservation, inform them you are part of the Blacksun Festival group. They will give you a special rate of $119/night. This rate is on avalible for those who make their reservations before June 28th.

The Colony Inn – 1157 Chapel St., (203) 776-1234, 85 Rooms, www.ColonyatYale.com
The Colony is the hotel that New Haveners recommend the most. It’s very affordable and clean. It has the major amenities you expect including internet access. Temperature is controlled from within the room. Underground parking is available but is not included in the room rate, and there are many good restaurants in the immediate neighborhood. If you are traveling to New Haven by train the Colony Inn will send a shuttle to pick you up from the station, as long as you inform them in advance. The staff is noted for their friendliness. Its location is perfect for the festival – about a five-minute walk from all festival venues.

Hotel Duncan – 1151 Chapel St., (203) 787-1273, 32 Rooms
This hotel is located next door to the Colony Hotel. It’s main advantage is price and location. Rooms start at $56/night after taxes, and the location can’t be beat. This hotel looks a bit dated. The festival organizer has stayed here and reports that it is clean and spacious. Some rooms have air conditioning, and some are without. In order to receive a room with A/C you must specifically request one. For a full report please see this review.

Hotel Duncan’s reservation policy is to only take reservations for the current month and the next. As a result for this years festival you will only be able to reserve a room starting on June 1st at 8am.

New Haven Hotel 229 George St., (203) 498-3100, 92 Rooms, www.NewHavenHotel.com
Another favorite recommendation of New Haveners. This hotel is affordable and clean. The rooms are spacious and have a vintage look to them. There are only showers in the bathrooms (no romantic baths for you!). There is valet parking and free wired internet to all rooms. This hotel is a bit further from the Fri/Sat night venue than the others that are reviewed (about a ten minute walk), but it is more in the center of New Haven and is much closer to the Sunday evening venue.
